“Church” by Chase Atlantic sexualizes religion in a way that really speaks to me. In Catholic school, you’re always taught that sex is bad and should only be used for procreation after marriage. The first time I heard this song, with its raunchy lyrics about “baptizing” between someone’s thighs, it allowed me to let go of some of the preconceived notions that Catholic school had instilled in me. It allowed me to understand that sex isn’t a bad thing, it’s natural, and as long as you’re being safe and consensual, you don’t need to wait till marriage.
