Bee Movie Script Excerpt

BEE MOVIE

Extended Opening Scene

THE NARRATOR: (According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.)
THE NARRATOR: Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Ooh, black and yellow! Let's shake it up a little.

INT. BARRY'S APARTMENT - MORNING

JANET BENSON: Barry! Breakfast is ready!

BARRY BENSON: Ooming!

JANET BENSON: Excuse me. Hello?

(A phone rings. Barry, a young bee, rushes around his room preparing for his big day.)

INT. BEE HIGH SCHOOL - GRADUATION

DEAN BUZZWELL: We are proud to present to you, our graduating class in a system that has worked since the dawn of time. I know you feel a certain amount of excitement, but you must take your place in the hive.

ADAM FLAYMAN: Adam Flayman, atten-hut!

DEAN BUZZWELL: We thank all the bees who've made the ultimate sacrifice, including the one who, in the face of a certain death, stepped on a cockroach.

ADAM FLAYMAN: Good, hard-working, loyal bees.

DEAN BUZZWELL: ...which makes you all Krelman graduates!

EXT. HIVE EXIT

BARRY BENSON: You know, Adam, today is all about the future.

ADAM FLAYMAN: We've all been dreading this day.

BARRY BENSON: I've been thinking about what I want to do with my life.

ADAM FLAYMAN: That's easy! You work your whole life to get to the point where you can work for the rest of your life!

BARRY BENSON: But what if I don't want to choose just one job? What if I want to keep all my options open?
